Healthcare laws require that all Americans have health insurance. This can be met by having coverage through private insurance, job-based plans, Medicare, Medicaid, or Peachcare for children.
East Georgia Healthcare has licensed Health Navigators to assist individuals in enrolling in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
There is an open enrollment period each year (usually beginning in November) and a minimum household income to qualify for government assistance that may reduce the cost of health insurance.
Individuals who do not meet the income requirement may be exempt from the penalty that is incurred for not meeting the healthcare laws.
