Swainsboro, Georgia:
"Where Main Streets Meet". Located in Emanuel County, Swainsboro
is 70 miles southwest of Augusta, 83 miles northwest of
Savannah, and 84 miles southeast of Macon. Interstate
16, located 11 miles south of Swainsboro is the major
link between Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah.
City population: 7950.
Swainsboro, the county
seat of Emanuel County, was incorporated on February 18,
1854. Swainsboro was named for Colonel Stephen
Swain, a member of the state legislature. Its name was
changed to Paris for a brief period, and then back to
Swainsboro.
Weather:
The average daily
temperature in January is 48 degrees F.,in July, 81
degrees F. This is an almost perfect climate, with 46 inches
average rainfall and only negligible snowfall.

Swainsboro is home to
Swainsboro Technical College as well as
East Georgia
College.
Statesboro, home of
Georgia Southern
University is 38 miles east of Swainsboro.
